Jail and Inmate Visitation


The Issaquah City Jail is a modern, 62 bed facility. In addition to providing a secure environment for Issaquah inmates, the following cities have contracted to house prisoners in the Issaquah Jail: Bellevue; Clyde Hill; Duvall; Maple Valley; Medina; Mercer Island; North Bend; Redmond; Sammamish; Snoqualmie; Black Diamond; Normandy Park; Bothell; Carnation; Kirkland; Shoreline; Woodinville; Newcastle; Pacific.

Issaquah also contracts with Yakima County Corrections for housing some of Issaquah's long term/special prisoners. Yakima's lower jail fees save Issaquah tax payers thousands of dollars per year.

Visitation


Inmate Visitation Hours:
MALE INMATES: Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M.
FEMALE INMATES: Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10 AM and 12: NOON
Visitors must have an acceptable picture ID (state issued driver's license or ID card; military or other government ID card; passport, etc)

Visitors must stop by the reception window in the main lobby and fill out an inmate visiting form prior to going downstairs to the jail.

Visitors must be over 18 years old; children under 18 can visit providing their parent or guardian accompanies them, and remains present during the time of the visit. (The parent or guardian cannot be the inmate being visited).

Guidelines for visiting an inmate:
All cell phones must remain off at all times while inside of the facility.
Dress Code:
No mini skirts or similar attire
No low-cut or revealing necklines
No bare midriff
Shoes required
Due to high volumes scheduled visiting time may be cut short.
Out of town visitors may qualify for special visits.
It is the responsibility of the detainee to notify visitors of any changes to their scheduled visiting times.
Inappropriate behavior, use of profanity and/or violating any rules and regulations will result in visiting and access privileges being denied.

Can I bring clothing to an inmate? YES.
You may bring all white only, short sleeved crew neck t-shirts in unopened new package. You may also bring all white only briefs or boxers in unopened new package. NO LOGOS ON ANY CLOTHING – ALL WHITE IN THEIR ORIGINAL PACKAGING. Please note: Any money, valuables, or clothing transactions can take up to an hour.

Can I bring books or magazines to an inmate? NO.
All books, magazines, newspapers and periodicals must be sent directly from the publisher. We cannot accept hard back books.

Can I leave money for an inmate? YES.
Money can be put “on the books” for an inmate. Cash only – no checks or money orders. Contact jail staff in the visiting area to put money on the books. Please note: Any money, valuables, or clothing transactions can take up to an hour.

Can I leave toiletries for an inmate? NO.
There is a commissary in the jail. Inmates can purchase toiletry items and snack food from the commissary if they have money on the books.

Can I call the inmate? NO.
You cannot call the inmate.

Can the inmate call me? YES.
The inmate can call you. Inmates have access to the phone however, all calls are collect and long distance calls include all applicable charges.

Can I e-mail an inmate? NO.
Inmates do not have access to a computer.

I’ve been sentenced by the Court to jail time - How do I turn myself in to the jail to begin my sentence?
If you have been sentenced by the Court, you should call the jail (425-837-3265) to make sure there is bed space available. When you report to the jail you need to bring your identification and court commitment paper work. All other items will be supplied to you. It is important that you do not report to serve jail time under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, as you will not be admitted and a letter will be sent to the court notifying them that you were under the influence.

How do I determine if a person is currently detained in the Issaquah Jail?
You can call 425-837-3268 and listen closely to the instructions. This is a phone tree - Be prepared – have paper and pencil ready to take down information and instructions and work your way through the phone tree to obtain your information.

How do I post bail or a bond?
Bail can be posted at the court or at the Issaquah Jail Facility. Bail can be posted in the form of cash, cashier’s check or money order. NO PERSONAL CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS. To post a bond, refer to the yellow pages and select a provider of your choice under Bail Bonds.
